Whit Whitaker - Executive Director

Whit Whitaker began serving as the Executive Director of The Lyric Theatre & Cultural Arts Center in August 2019. Prior to this appointment, he performed on the legendary stage at The Lyric and graced audiences across the globe with his rich vocal skills. Originally from Detroit, Whitaker graduated from UK with a degree in music and later earned his Master of Arts degree in Arts Administration. A proven leader in the local arts community, he most recently served as the choral business director for the Lexington Singers and can still be seen performing on stage as a member of the Kentucky Bach Choir, occasionally with The American Spiritual Ensemble and as a solo artist. Whitaker serves on several local boards, including as the 1st Vice President of the Fayette NAACP and as the Co-Chairperson of the Episcopal Diocese of Lexington Commission for Racial Reconciliation, and regularly volunteers his time in the community.

Tim Small - Operations Manager

Tim Small accepted a position as an Office Assistant at The Lyric Theatre in 2013. Through work in assisting with education-based program planning, marketing, and graphic design, Small was promoted to Education & Marketing Coordinator in 2015. After years of planning programs, special events, rentals, and financial tracking, Small was promoted to Operations Manager in 2017, utilizing his institutional knowledge to assist in the overall day to day operations of The Lyric. Small enjoys his work planning programming and utilizing his years of experience at The Lyric to help manage the facility, track financials, and assist the Executive Director and Lyric Board in ensuring the success of the organization.

Kevin Vestal - Marketing Coordinator

Kevin Vestal joined the Lyric team in September 2020. Originally from central Ohio, Vestal graduated from Miami University with a degree in Journalism. Prior to relocating to Lexington, he handled marketing and public relations for Chautauqua Theater Company in New York and the Walnut Street Theatre in Philadelphia. Vestal hosts, produces, and edits the Stories from the Lyric podcast. In addition to being an avid lover of the arts, Vestal enjoys crosswords, reading, and training for his next 5K.
